Shillong, May 1: Meghalaya police, on Friday, informed that 2 cases have been registered at Cyber Crime Police Station after two emails forging the designation of senior government officials were reportedly found to be sending subordinate officers to purchase online gift vouchers.
“Two such forged email ID is has been found to be sending emails from spoofed address such as email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org,” GK Ïangrai, Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) stated.
He revealed that 2 separate cases have been registered. “The general public are here by requested that in case they receive such spoof emails, they should immediately report the same to email@example.com or contact 0364-2504001 (cybercrime assistance cell),” Ïangrai stated.
Police have requested Senior Government Officials to brief junior officers and staff, so as to verify the authenticity of such emails before responding or clicking the link/URL attached with this mails.
