Tura, Apr 4: Two sisters, one aged 7 and the other 8 were allegedly sexually assaulted by two men, one of who is said to be absconding after the incident and the subsequent police FIR.
According to police sources, Konesh Hajong (25) of Bhajamara under Selsella block and Nokosh Marak (45) both of who were working under PHE in Tura had assaulted the two sisters near their home after which a complaint was filed by the family last evening at the Tura Women’s PS. Immediately after the complaint, police were able to catch one of the suspects, Konesh Hajong though Marak is still absconding.
Marak hails from the Lower Sunny Hills locality in the town of Tura.
Though details are still hazy on what exactly happened, police confirmed receipt of the complaint while adding that they were awaiting the results of the medical before filing appropriate sections against the sexual predators. Hajong is currently in police custody.
The incident reportedly happened at Dakopgre PHE complex where the two accused, Marak and Hajong lured the two minor girls and committed the act. While Marak is a government servant, Hajong is a muster roll worker in the same department.
“We are waiting for confirmation of the medical reports after which appropriate sections of the law will be filed. A hunt for the other accused, Marak is currently on,” said acting SP, Dr Sacheng Marak.
