298 persons in Meghalaya recovers from COVID-19

SHILLONG, Oct 17: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded the highest number of recovered cases in a single day with 298.

With this, the total number of recovered cases in Meghalaya has gone up to 6034, the health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that East Khasi Hills saw 223 new recoveries, armed and paramilitary forces six, others 217, Ri-Bhoi 55, West Garo Hills 18, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills one each.

Dr. War also informed that Meghalaya also recorded 101 new COVID-19 cases, with East Khasi Hills recording 56, West Khasi Hills 30, West Garo Hills 11, Ri-Bhoi two, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills one each.

The total number of active cases in Meghalaya is now 2295.

The Director of Health Services also informed that the number of samples tested till date are 185467 out of which 177063 samples were negative.

Till date a total of 8404 number of persons have tested positive out of which 75 died due to the virus.

Meghalaya has 66 containment zones and the case fatality rate is 0.90.
