SHILLONG, Jul 8: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded four more COVID-19 cases while two recovered from the virus, the State health department informed.
According to Director of Health Service (MI), Dr. Aman Warr, the total active cases as on Wednesday evening was 52 and 45 patients have recovered.
Giving a district wise break up of the cases, Dr. Warr informed that in East Khasi Hills there are 34 active cases out of which 26 are from the BSF (25 males and one female), the Air Force has two cases both males and six others are civilians. Ri-Bhoi has 14 cases (8 males and 6 females), East Jaintia Hills one male and West Garo Hills – three cases, one female and two males.
The Director of Health Service also informed that from the two cases that has emerged from the wedding that was held in Greenwood Resort, there were 44 high risk contacts – 23 from the first patient and 21 from the second patient even as he added that there is all likelihood of more contacts emerging in the coming days.
“Both have been kept under isolation at Civil Hospital Shillong,” Dr. Warr said.
The Director of Health Service also informed that in the BSF Composite Hospital 1006 rapid tests were conducted and 735 RT-PCR tests.
He informed that of these 26 are positive cases, and the results of 108 are awaited.
In Dobasipara, of the 262 tests conducted, no positive cases and the report of 43 samples are awaited.
In Paharinagar, 70 samples tested negative and the results of nine is awaited and in Dhankagre 52 samples tested negative and the results of 16 is awaited.
Meanwhile in Khanapara area where random tests are being conducted, of the 669 samples taken through rapid tests all were negative.
