Jowai, Feb 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the agitating groups in the state should be happy since the State Government is taking all steps to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
Speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting at Jowai, Sangma said the agitating groups should realize that the Government has taken steps and ready with different mechanisms to stop influx into the State.
Appealing to the agitating groups, Sangma said that even if there is discontentment among these groups they should not take such dissent out in the open and should instead come forward and discuss with the Government.
“They need to keep an open mind and talk out differences over the ILP, “ the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also informed that there are things which is not under the control of the State, since the Centre has to give its nod to implement ILP in the State.
However, he said that he has held a fruitful meeting with Home Minster, Amit Shah recently in New Delhi and the Home Minister has assured that he would be looking into the Resolution passed by the Meghalaya Assembly also assured to meet the delegation from Meghalaya on the issue of the implementation of the ILP.
