SHILLONG, Jan 22: In another case of alleged nepotism in the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) a candidate was selected for a government post wihout fulfilling his criteria as put up by the Commission.
It may be mentioned that for the post of District Sports Officer in the Directorate of Sports Youth Affairs, one of the candidate selected for the post did not fulfill the eligibility criteria.
It may be mentioned that as per the Advertisement – No. MPSC/ADVT-38/1/2014/1 dated 17 th /June/2014 in serial No. 6 for the post of District Sports Officer in the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong. The eligibility criteria was for a candidate who possessed a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream including BPE/BPEd from any recognised Indian University/Institutes or Graduate with Diploma in Coaching from NSNIS Patiala, or its subsidiary regional Institutes.
But one of the candidates did not fulfil this criteria.
“He did not fulfil even the basic criteria. How did he applied for the post?,” an aggrieved said.
According to one of the candidate the selected person was only a coach.
“The selected candidate did not even fulfil the basic criteria required. There are many other coaches who did not fulfill thisd criteria and therefore did not apply for this post,” the aggrieved candidate said.
They alleged that the said person might have some kind of political backing therefore he was appointed to the shock of many eligible candidates.
