SHILLONG, Jul 7: Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, has said that there is a possibility of a lockdown being reimposed in the state if the COVID-19 situation worsens even as he allayed fears of community transmission in Meghalaya.
“If situation worsens or continues to be grim I think we will have no option (but to reimpose lockdown),” Tynsong said.
He also appealed to the citizens of the state to desist from exposing themselves unnecessarily.
“The situation is not conducive. Therefore I request each and every citizens to kindly refrain themselves to the maximum to any unnecessary exposure,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
It may be mentioned that in the last week there has been a surge in COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya. On Monday, the State recorded the highest single spike with 16 new cases.
The state now has 50 active cases.
