Authorities forced to call off public hearing in Lumshnong

Khliehriat, Mar 19: The Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) and East Jaintia Hills district authorities on Tuesday was forced to call off a public hearing at Lumshnong village of East Jaintia hills.

The public hearing was meant for expansion of limestone mining from 9 lakh tons to 25 lakh tons of Star Cement.

Sources informed that the public hearing had to be called off due to the opposition of the dorbar shnong and villagers of Lumshnong.
