Bangladeshi convicted for entering India illegally

SHILLONG, Jun 8: A court in West Jaintia on Friday, convicted a foreign national for entering Indian territory.

Informing this, West Jaintia Hills, Superintendent of Police (SP), Vivek Syiem said that the foreign national Ranjeet Namosudro was convicted under section 420 of the IPC, read with section 14 of Foreigners Act for a period of two years, three months simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3, 000.

The judgment was passed by the court of DMKS Shadap, JudicialMagistrate First Class, Amlarem Sub-Division.

Syiem stated that on March 10, 2016 an FIR was filed at Dawki police station, by one Vinay Kumar, Assistant Commandant, of the BSF.

The Indian border guards apprehended the Bangladeshi national. The case was investigated by sub-inspector S Baraily who submitted the chargesheet on June 21, 2016.
