Bethany Doctor tested negative 1 day after testing positive for COVID-19

Shillong, Aug 1: A doctor from Bethany Hospital tested negative for COVID-19, a day after his sample recorded positive, informed Nodal Officer & Spokesperson, Dr. Kyntiewlang Sanmiet.

In a statement to the press, Bethany Hospital Spokesperson said that the doctor tested positive for coronavirus in July 29. The next day, he tested negative.

“As COVID-19 is a new virus and not much is known about it, there is a possibility that a person can be tested negative one day after being tested positive. That is why we appeal the public not to panic as recovery can happen after a day. The said doctor is doing well and asymptomatic,” Dr. Kyntiewlang stated.

He clarified that the hospital has not shutdown operation and that OPD and all services are open, and added that all necessary procedures are being undertaken to ensure the safety of patients.

“COVID-19 prevention standards, like screening of all patients and visitors, physical distancing, issuing of masks and other protective equipments to all staff every day, daily disinfection and spraying of the hospital and all infection control measures are strictly enforced inside the hospital premises,” he said.

He also informed that all the Hospital staff are regularly tested to ensure no one is a COVID-19 carrier and so far all were negative.
