SHILLONG, Apr 23: Ahead of the poll to the Willaimnagr Assembly seat on April 27 the BJP candidate from the constituency sounded confident that he will do well.
Santosh R Marak, the BJP candidate for the Willamnagar seat said that the previous MLAs of the constituency have failed in uplifting the people of the region and they now want change.
Marak said, “The constituency lacks in education, infrastructure and health. I want to uplift the livelihood options for the people (especially the rural areas) through the development of the agriculture, horticulture sector. This will also help restore the environmental imbalance.”
The BJP candidate felt that to improve education people of the constituency is pitted against the best in the country which would be a huge step in the right direction.
“I want to sponsor and encourage the education of young people to attend Civil Services exams in the hope of producing civil service officers through coaching (IAS, IPS). Previous leaders have failed to do the basics to ensure this,” said the BJP leader.
Apart from Marak there are 8 other candidates in the fray,which includes former cabinet minister, Debora C Marak and the wife of Jonathone N Sangma slained NCP candidate, Krenilla Marak. Votes will be counted on May 1.
