BJP MLA vexed with party state leaders for making public allegations against government

Shillong, Oct 19: Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai today wrote to party state President Ernest Mawrie urging him to refrain from making public allegations against the state government without consulting the elected representatives.

He stated that the present political development arising out of continuous statement made against the Government by the state office-bearers has created a sense of uneasiness in the minds of the people across the state.

“Such continuous threat publicly through media houses puts a huge question mark over the decisions made by the central leadership at the start of the alliance,” it read.

The BJP MLA reminded Mawrie that in their core committee meet held on October 2nd, it was ‘decided that henceforth all press statements against the Government should be made only after taking into confidence of both the elected MLA’s and through appropriate and accepted forum.’

He said that allegations should be made with substantial evidence and asked the state president whether the central leaders are aware of the allegations made by state BJP office-bearers.

“Our Honourable Chief Minister who is also the chairman of the present-day coalition has always supported the BJP, since last two and half years during the time even when there was widespread protest against BJP in the state of Meghalaya,” the letter read.

He added that he will request Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to call for an all Government party meet to address all issues

It may be mentioned that following multiple allegations of corruption and illegal coal transportation against NPP leadership, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong last Saturday snapped back saying BJP should leave the MDA coalition if ‘they are not comfortable.’

In response, state BJP vice president had said that the MDA coalition cannot exist without BJP.
