BJP to deal with allegations of corruption in ‘different manner’

SHILLONG, Nov 25: The national vice-president of the BJP, in-charge northeast, Chuba Ao today said that the party is committed to support the government.

“We will be together with the government, till the election comes,” Ao told reporters after meeting party workers and office bearers.

On the issue of corruption, as alleged by the state unit of the BJP, the national vice-president said that it is a different issue and the party will deal with it in a different manner even as he said that he is yet to consult with the state president (Ernest Mawrie).

Ao said that the National People’s Party and the BJP are still good partners and have a good understanding of each other

“Yet to discuss (corruption) with the state president. I will have to sit with him and find out. We cannot simply tell the media that, I have support, I have not supported. We don’t do things blindly,” he added.

On the issue of the BJP demanding a CBI probe into corruption in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council, Ao said that evidence is needed.

“This is not a priority right now, unless and until I don’t know about the fact how, how can I jump into it,” he said.

He also said that the party cannot simply blame their partner and the partners cannot blame the BJP.

He, however, clarified that the BJP have not compromised (on corruption) and have zero tolerance.

On NPP saying that if BJP is not comfortable in the coalition they can pull out the national vice-president said that every political party has their own opinion.

“He has said if you are not comfortable go, we are also telling if you are not comfortable you can go. What is the harm,” Ao added.
