SHILLONG, Nov 9: The state unit of BJP youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has demanded a “judicial inquiry” or probe by the CBI into the murderous attack on Agnes Kharshiing and her colleague Anita Sangma in East Jaintia Hills on November 8.
“This is to find out if there is a conspiracy between Coal Mafia and authorities (police or politicians) to instigate and provoke the mob,” Egenstar Kurkalang president BJYM Meghalaya said.
The BJYM strongly urged the state government to immediately solve the issue of ban on coal mining by the NGT.
“All these problem have arisen from the issue of ban on coal mining and the governmwent should speed up the Mining Policy in the best interest of the public and the society of Meghalaya, Kurkalang said.
Kurkalang also said that Kharshiing and Sangma should get free medical treatment.
While condemning the attack on the duo, the BJYM urged the state government to arrest all those involved in the attack even as it said that the law does not allow any person to harm anyone even if there is any differences.
Kurkalang also said that the attacked might have occured due to the limited presence of police in that area.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) Theilin Phanbuh has also condemned the attack on the women.
“The action of these people cannot be accepted by the society,” Phanbuh said.
“The government should arrest and punish those responsible as per law,” the MSCW chairperson said.
