Cabinet approves revised guidelines to use Environment Protection Fund

Shillong, Aug 7: Meghalaya Cabinet, on Friday, approved revised guidelines to use the money collected under the Meghalaya Environment Protection and Restoration Fund. 

Cabinet Minister James Sangma informed reporters that the National Green Tribunal had raised concerns regarding the previous guidelines of the fund. 

It was then reviewed and approved by the NGT in a meeting held on June 19 this year, he said. 

He informed that till date the fund, which is collected from coal dealers, has amounted to over Rs 445 crores.
