Shillong, July 9: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday informed that six agendas were taken up at the cabinet meet.
The first agenda discussed was the amendment of service routes in Legal & Metrology department which was approved by cabinet. “Some additional posts have been added to the rule book,” he informed.
Reservation for persons with disability benchmark disability was also discussed with the objective was to maintain a roster system in the 4% reservation, he stated.
The Chief Minister also announced an amnesty scheme for people with tax dues towards the state government. Under this scheme, people who have tax dues will be given six months time to pay their dues in exchange for partial amnesty of 30% of the arrear dues, failing which different legal actions will be taken.
Arunkumar Kembhavi, Commissioner of Taxes informed that the main purpose of the accordance is to help defaulters and the department to clean the slate and make a fresh start.
He revealed that 152 crores in tax was pending from 805 taxpayers, adding that these defaulters can benefit from the scheme.
The fourth agenda taken up was revision in ex-gratia amount and grants to victims of electrical accidents. Sangma informed that for loss of life, the amount has been increased from 1 lakh to 2.5 lakh.
“Fifth was on appointed of retired Colonel MM Singh to the post of Zila Sainik Welfare officer in Tura,” he informed.
The last agenda taken up was regarding the approval for procedure of clearance of financial and technical approval for mega projects and infrastructures for National Games 2022 for projects above 50 crores.
