Candle light marches over Pulwama terror attack continue in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Feb 19: Hundreds of people including senior citizen and youths of plain belt of Garo Hills on Monday evening held a silent candlelight procession in Chibinang under Phulbari police station, West Garo Hills to express solidarity with the families of the CRPF Jawans who were killed in the terror attack in Pulwama.

Forty CRPF personnel were killed in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14 when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying explosives into their bus.

The candlelight procession in the plain belt was led by the ACHDO president Ishraful Hoque, coordinator Jahangir Ali and Bishal Ghosh, Shanami E Rahman, Raju Gupta, Mustafizur Rohman along with around 500 more citizens.

A one minute of silence was observed and later a procession holding candles with slogan “Hindustan Zindabad”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Pakistan Murdabad” were raised.

The people of the plain belt have joined the rest of the country in unity against terror attacked.

The ACHDO has also strongly condemned the killing of 44 CRPF jawans in the hands of Pakistani sponsored terrorists at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir offered condolence and pray for the victims and their families.

Meanwhile, a candle vigil was also organised at Shillong city by the Meghalaya Congress Mahila on Tuesday afternoon.

Former minister and AICC Mahila Secretary Deborah C Marak was also present at the event.
