Shillong, May 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today attended the closing ceremony of the Combined Annual Training Camp of the 2nd BN NCC at U Soso Tham auditorium in the city.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister motivated the young cadets to adhere to a disciplined life to achieve success.
Lauding the NCC for their immense contribution towards developing the youth to become worthy citizens of the nation the Chief Minister said that the Government was committed to provide support for the proliferation of NCC in Meghalaya.
Talking at length about the immense potential of the youth in Meghalaya, Group Commander Brig. P.M Bali underlined the need for raising NCC battalions in Tura to cater to the Garo Hills region and one for the Jaintia Hills.
The Chief Minister also handed over the prizes to outstanding cadets for their achievements during the training camp.
Commissioner and Secretary (Education) W. Lyngdoh and Director Education (School Education and Literacy) Ambrose Marak were also among the dignitaries present at the function.
