CM reviews COVID-19 preparedness in East Garo Hills

Williamnagar, June 2: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, accompanied by the Govt. Chief Whip, Marcuise N Marak, Rongjeng MLA and Transport Chairman, Jim M Sangma and the Co-Chairman, Meghalaya Resource Mobilisation, SB Sangma, reviewed the COVID-19 preparedness in East Garo Hills at Williamnagar Circuit House on 2 June.

Reviewing the preparedness in the district, the chief minister informed that there will be challenges in the next two weeks and appeal everyone to remain alert and not to panic even if the positive cases are detected. 

He also urged the district administration to protect the elderly people and to be ready for new norms post lockdown.

While informing about the investment of the Government in health sector, the chief minister assured that ambulances will be provided to all the CHCs and the PCHCs in the next two years and also to provide quick testing machines to all the districts.

While responding to an issue raised by Williamnagar MLA, Marcuise N Marak pertaining to pot-holes on the roads in and around Williamnagar and Rongjeng MLA, Jim M Sangma’s issue pertaining to Rongjeng-Mangsang Road and erratic power supply in his constituency, the chief minister assured to look into their respective issues.

The chief minister, before the review meeting, visited the quarantine centres and corona care centre and interacted with the inmates and distributed the books on general knowledge.
