SHILLONG, Jan 4: On Friday morning at around 10:30 am the personnel of Odisha Fire Service have started pumping at the two pumps near the flooded illegal coal pit where 15 miners are trapped in the state’s East Jaintia Hills district.
It was reported that the water level in the second old shaft that was pumped yesterday was again found to have risen to the same level this morning
The rescuers also informed that more pumps will be used in the adjacent shaft and hoped that high power pumps of Coal India Limited and Kirloskar Brothers Limited are ready at the earliest so that they can also supplement the dewatering of water. According to spokesperson of the rescue operation R Susngi Coal India Limited has installed the platform on the old shaft nearby the main shaft and expected operation by today.
Susngi also informed that the Kirloskar Brothers Limited also are getting ready to lay the platform on the main shaft , while the NDRF personnel are providing all the assistance and resources available to other agencies.
