Cong MLA accuses govt of being insensitive to suffering of people affected by floods

Shillong, Jul 20: Congress MLA Zenith Sangma on Monday accused the state government of being insensitive to the hardships faced by people in West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills District that is reeling under flood.

He said that due to severe flooding in Assam, the Brahmaputra river is back flowing into the plain belts of both the districts rendering several residents homeless.

Sangma said that till now, no step has been taken by the government to help the people.

He informed that the Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma visited the plain belt of West Garo hills and South West Garo Hills district to inspect the situation.

The Congress MLA added the leader of opposition pulled up district administration since they have “authority in their own level to extend support.”
