Conrad in talks with centre for operating flight services

Shillong, May 20: Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has said that he has spoken to the Civil Aviation Ministry to operate flights for stranded students and individuals of the State.

“There are lots of people who expressed that they are willing to pay for the flight tickets. Because of that we got in touch with lots of airlines and we got different prices and quotations for it and some quotations were very reasonable,” the Chief Minister said.

Conrad said that the pricing was reasonable considering the social distancing factor where the seats would have to be reduced.

“Now the next step is of course to get the permission from the MHA and civil aviation ministry and that permission we have not got yet so that is why we were not able to go for the plane option,” the Chief Minister said.

Conrad also informed that trains carrying stranded people of the State will depart from Haryana, Gurgoan, Mumbai and Pune in the coming days.

I have spoken to the Chief Minister of Delhi yesterday,” he said.

Conrad also said that a train from minister of Hyderabad carrying people of the State will start on Thursday.
