Cops seize 43.23 gms of suspected heroin

Shillong, Aug 11: Meghalaya Anti-Narcotics Task Force, on Tuesday, informed that they have seized a total of 43.23 grams of heroin in two operations.

The ANTF under DSP City B. Jyrwa received information regarding a drug consignment which was to be bought from Guwahati to Shillong in vehicle B/R No. ML 05 N- 8934. The vehicle was intercepted at View Point Umiam Lake on Monday.

“The driver namely Shri. Jayantai Deb revealed that one bag was kept under the seat by one Shri. Arneston Dkhar with the instruction to deliver the said consignment to his wife . The consignment contained suspected heroin which weighed 25.23 gms and the same was seized,” they said.

The receiver of the consignmeng Haldora Marngar, wife of Arneston Dkhar was apprehended the same day.

“Later on, Smti. Haldora Marngar (24 Yrs) of Mawlai Nongkwar Pata Rim, Shillong and Shri. Jayatai Deb (50 Yrs) were arrested and the contraband seized,” they stated.

Further in continuation of operation, a local taxi was intercepted at Mawkynroh junction where the drug supplier Arneston Dkhar (35 Yrs) and another supplier Rami Juddin (30 Yrs) were arrested and 18 gms of suspected heroin were seized from their possession.

“An NDPS case has been taken up vide Mawlai PS Case No. 68(8)20 u/s 21(b)/29 NDPS Act,” police informed.
