Coronavirus scare: 37 students who returned from China under medical surveillance

SHILLONG, Feb 3: Meghalaya’s Health and Family Welfare, Spokesperson, Dr. M Marbaniang today said that the 37 students who have returned to Meghalaya had not shown any symptoms of coronavirus infection and had been kept under medical surveillance daily.

According to Marbaniang the students are pursuing higher studies, especially medicine, in China’s Wangdong province, Sichuan province and Yunnan province.

The State Health and Family Welfare Spokesperson however, said the 37 students had not shown any symptoms of coronavirus infection and had been kept out of contact from others and even asked to stay indoor and wear mask.

However, Dr. Marbaniang did not disclose the identity of the 37 China-returned students from Meghalaya and did not specify where they were quarantined in the State.

Meanwhile, the Health department has also appealed to the people of the state not to panic since no case of the virus has been reported.
