SHILLONG, Jul 14: The State has 270 active COVID-19 cases as on Tuesday, the State Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed.
Dr. Warr said that out of those cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 236 active cases, out of which 179 are from the Border Security Force (BSF), 2 are from the Indian Air Force and two are Assam Rifles personnel and 53 are civilians.
In Ri Bhoi district there are 19 new cases, East Jaintia Hills 2, East Garo Hills 1, North Garo Hills 1, West Garo Hills 9 and South Garo Hills 2. So far a total of 46 cases has recovered.
Meanwhile, a total of 24817 samples have been sent for testing out of which a total of 24199 tests yielded negative and the results of 300 samples are awaited.
Till, Tuesday afternoon, a total of 21837, stranded residents returned back to Meghalaya.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, informed that the two-day lockdown will end at 5 am on Wednesday morning and the government does not have any intention to continue with it.
Tynsong said that the lockdown was used to conduct contact tracing of the 41 persons who attended the wedding at Khanapara.
The Deputy Chief Minister, informed that 198 contacts were identified.
