Shillong, Oct 2: Meghalaya today witnessed the highest single day spike in covid-19 cases.
Data from the directorate of health services informed that the state recorded 231 fresh cases till 2 pm, taking the active Covid tally to 1755.
Of these the majority were reported from East Khasi hills district with 183 which 112 of these cases from East Khasi Hills are high-risk contacts, 22 are health workers and the rest are from other clusters, including Jhalupara, Nongmensong, Polo, Rilbong, and more.
East Jaintia hills recorded 13 cases, of these 6 are from the Dalmia Cement cluster, West Garo hills and South West Garo hills registered 9 each while Ri Bhoi district recorded 7 cases, West Khasi hills 3 and East Garo hills 1.
Meanwhile all six cases in South Garo hills are from the Baghmara bazaar cluster.
The State also recorded one more death and the total death tally in the state has climbed up to 52.
Moreover, 225 patients have recovered from the virus – the majority being from East Jaintia hills with 123 recoveries and 94 from East Khasi hills and this takes the total recovered tally to 4226.
