COVID-19: Meghalaya records 12 new cases, 12 recoveries

Shillong, Jan 17: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 12 fresh COVID-19 cases and an equal number of persons recovered from the viral infection.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that out of the 12 new cases, 11 were recorded in East Khasi Hills and one in East Jaintia Hills.

Dr. War informed that the state now has 148 new cases and the total recovered cases stands at 13412.

The Director of Health Services informed that, East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 100 active cases.

Of the 11 cases registered in East Khasi Hills, seven are from the Umpling cluster, two in Laitumkhrah cluster, one from the Nongrim cluster and one is a returnee.

Of the 12 persons who recovered in the state, seven is from West Jaintia Hills, two from East Khasi Hills and one each recovered in South Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and Ri-Bhoi.

Four districts of the state – South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills are presently COVID-19 free.
