Shillong, Dec 24: Meghalaya on Thursday recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases and 28 persons recovered from the virus, health authorities informed.
According to Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War all the new cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills (armed/paramilitary forces – three and others – nine).
Of the recovered cases 12 were from East Khasi Hills (armed/paramilitary forces – one and others – 11), nine in West Garo Hills, two in East Jaintia Hills and one each in East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, Ri-Bhoi, South Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
As of date, Meghalaya now has 283 active cases and a total of 12922 have recovered from the virus.
East Khasi Hills district remains the most affected with 204 active cases.
The total number of persons tested till date is 2, 85, 139 out of which 2, 71, 799 yielded negative results.
Dr. War also informed that 75, 911 persons have entered the state from others parts of the country and outside.
The Director of Health Services also informed that the case fatality rate is 1.01 percent.
Dr. War also informed that a total of 110 persons are under institutional quarantine and 147 are under home quarantine/isolation and there are 18 containment zones.
