COVID-19: Meghalaya records 19 new cases 27 recoveries

Shillong, Jan 10: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 19 new cases and 27 persons recovered from the viral infection.

Director of Health Service (MI), Dr. Aman War, informed that with the fresh cases, the active cases are now 155 and the total recovered cases have surged to 13313. The state has so far recorded 143 deaths.

The Director of Health Services informed that of the 19 new cases – 16 are in East Khasi Hills, two in West Jaintia Hills and one in West Garo Hills. Of the new cases detected in the state two are police personnel, Dr. War informed.

Of the 27 recovered cases – 26 were recorded in East Khasi Hills (armed/paramilitary forces – three and others – 23) and one person recovered in West Garo Hills.

South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills and East Garo Hills district are free from the viral infection as of Sunday, Dr. War informed.

The Director of Health Services also informed that East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 113 cases.

Meanwhile, the East Khasi Hills district administration has extended night curfew in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The curfew has been extended in the district with effect from January 11 to 17 between 11 pm and 5 am.
