COVID-19: Meghalaya records 32 new cases, two deaths

SHILLONG, Jul 19: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 32 new COVID-19 cases. The state also recorded two deaths during this period. 

Dr. Aman Warr informed that out of these new cases, 31 are from East Khasi Hills district, the BSF accounted for 29 of these while two are civilians. In Ri-Bhoi, one person tested positive. 

Dr. Warr informed that of the two civilians who tested positive for COVID-19, in East Khasi Hills, one is a returnee and the other is from the orthopedic ward of NEIGRIHMS. The lone case in Ri-Bhoi was detected from Khanapara. 

So far Meghalaya has 397 active cases and a total of 450 recorded COVID-19 cases, 49 recoveries and four deaths. 

The district wise break up of the cases are – East Khasi Hills 343 (BSF 268, Armed Forces 14 and civilians 61), Ri-Bhoi 36, East Jaintia Hills 2, West Garo Hills 11, South West Garo Hills 1, East Garo Hills 1 and North Garo Hills 1. 

Dr. Warr also informed that of the BSF personnel who tested positive for COVID-19, in Civil Hospital Shillong there are 19, 15 in NEIGRIHMS, some in the BSF Composite Hospital in Umpling and others are in the corona care center at IIM, Shillong.
