Shillong, Aug 21: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said the COVID-19 situation in the state is becoming complicated and urgent collective action was needed in the seemingly long battle ahead against the virus.
“Public representatives, officials, local leaders, Rangbah Shnong, Nokmas and citizens all have to come together to ensure that we minimise the growth and spread of COVID-19,” said the chief minister who chaired a meeting with legislators from East Khasi Hills district.
Amongst the eleven district, East Khasi hills is the most affected COVID-19 district in the state.
“We have decided to establish constituency wise COVID-19 committees headed by the respective constituency legislator to further streamline the fight against the pandemic, even in positive cases and also to look at the possibility of having community corona care centres and enhancing the existing corona centres,” Chief Minister said.
The chief minister also said this exercise will be again conducted in different parts of the state in other districts also and so we will be sending other cabinet ministers who will be visiting other districts and taking up the matter and sharing the same concerns.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also informed that the government proposed of setting up more corona care centres and enhancing the existing ones, besides opting for home quarantine.
