Shillong, Sep 30: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded four more COVID-19 deaths taking the number of cases to 51, health authorities informed on Wednesday.
According to Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War one female, Donia Khyriem, 59 years of Mawkhriah, Mawngap, East Khasi Hills died on September 28 at H. Gordon Robert’s Hospital.
On Wednesday three more deaths were reported.
M. D. Salim of Mawbah died at Nazareth Hospital at around 1:40 am, Dran Lyngkhoi 68 of Smit, died at Civil Hospital, Shillong at 2:20 am, and Minati Chakravarti 74, female of Laban, Last Stop was declared brought dead at around 3:05 am to Bethany Hospital.
On Wednesday, the State also recorded 176 new COVID-19 cases and 37 recoveries.
With this the number of active cases is again on the rise with 1615 and the total number of recovered cases now stands at 3975, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. War informed.
Of the new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 113 all from the others category, West Garo Hill 30 (armed and paramilitary forces six, others 24), Ri-Bhoi 18 (armed and paramilitary forces two and others 16), South West Garo Hills 11, East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills one each. The lone positive case recorded on Wednesday in South West Khasi Hills is from the armed and paramilitary forces.
Dr. War also informed that of the 37 recovered cases West Garo Hills recorded 21 (armed and paramilitary forces three, others 18), Ri-Bhoi 11 (armed and paramilitary forces three, others eight), East Khasi Hills three and South West Garo Hills two.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War today again reiterated that there was no “hanky panky” on the part of the government with regards to declaring positive cases in the State.
He rubbished all allegations that most patients taken to hospitals in the State are testing positive for COVID-19.
According to Dr. War only those patients with severe illnesses on most occasions tests positive for the virus.
The number of samples sent for testing till date are 150809, of which 145170 tested negative and the number of people who have entered the state till date are 42710.
