Dr Aman Warr: Citizens should treat themselves as asymptomatic

SHILLONG, Jun 11: Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman Warr on Thursday said that all citizens of the State should treat themselves as asymptomatic and adhere to protocols to curb the spread of coronavirus in Meghalaya.

Dr Warr said that citizens have to go for “physical distancing” not “social distancing”.

“We should maintain a distance of five to six feet, wash our hands regularly in running water, use sanitisers frequently and wear masks,” the Director of Health Services said.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the house in Nongmensong locality with Health Minister,A.L.Hek where a couple including a pregnant woman who had tested positive after returning from Delhi, Dr Warr said that everyone should learn to live with the virus and treat it like any other seasonal flu.

Meanwhile, Health Minister, A L Hek said that he visited the house where the couple stayed to appeal to them to not panic.

He also warned rumour mongers and urged the police to arrest such people.

Hek also distributed essential items to the particular house where the couple stayed.

The Health Minister also said that Nongmensong locality has not been declared a containment zone but only the house where the husband and wife stayed has been contained.
