Shillong, Feb 18: The National People’s Party (NPP), has exuded confidence that it will sweep the Garo Hills Autonomous District Councils (GHADC) elections.
Rajya Sabha MP and president of the NPP state unit, Dr. Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi said that the party’s target is to win more seats than the absolute majority.
“I am confident that the party would sweep the forthcoming GHADC elections,” Dr. Kharlukhi said.
When asked if the allegation of corruption against the Executive Committee of the NPP would dent their chances and benefit the Congress, the state NPP chief said that those are mere allegations.
Dr. Kharlukhi said that there is no evidence and proof to substantiate the alleged corruption in the GHADC.
“It is very easy to say there is corruption. But these need to be substantiated with facts and I do not see that the Congress would benefit from this issue,” he added.
