Shillong, Nov 13: In a series of raids conducted in last three days to detect the supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the East Jaintia Hills district, joint teams of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Khliehriat Police Station and Ladrymbai Out Post recovered approximately 45 grams of heroin.
In first raid on November 11, the team recovered 4.23 grams of heroin from a car bearing registration number ML-10A-4268 at Moopala and arrested four persons namely Kyrshan Syrti, Trusty Latam, Ferdinand Pale and Chanmi Patwet.
On November 12, the team recovered 1.48 grams of heroin from the possession of one person named Sanjit Singha travelling in a tourist taxi bearing registration number ML-04A-4819 at Byndihati.
Again, on the same evening, the team recovered 34.29 grams of heroin from a car bearing registration number AS-24A-1861 at Moopala and arrested two persons, Sabul Uddin and Aftab Uddin.
In another raid conducted on Wednesday morning, the team recovered 4.15 grams of heroin from a house in Ladrymbai, Dongwah, Pohktieh and arrested the owner of the house, Chales Myrchiang.
Separate cases have been registered against the above-mentioned recoveries and investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, the East Jaintia police also thanked the members of the civil society who assisted them in these recoveries.
“It is our continued endeavour to enforce the NDPS Act in the district as strictly as possible. We would again like to appeal to everyone to come forward and assist us with real time information so that we can completely check this menace,” the police said.
