Shillong, July 19: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, on Saturday, stated that more COVID-19 recoveries are expected in the coming weeks and that the curve in cases is slowly flattening.
He told Shillong Mail that apart from BSF, returnees and Khanapara cluster, the other clusters have plateaued.
“We don’t expect any new cases in the other clusters. At the same time, in the returnees cluster also we expect a decrease in the next 10 days because we are closing our entry points,” he said.
Regarding the BSF cluster, he said that the government has asked not to allow returnees to come back except for those in transit.
The Chief Minister said that he hopes to see flattening taking place, but added that the government will not let their guard down.
He informed that more than 20,000 citizens have returned to the state and on an average the government expects 120 to 150 people coming in.
