From a dense vegetation to recreation park and a view point

Nongpoh, October 13: From a land covered with dense vegetation in Mawroh village in Nongpoh town has now been transformed into a recreational park and a view point center.

The park was inaugurated by Meghalaya Tourism minister, Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday in presence of many dignitaries.

After it has been transformed into a recreational park and view point center, the place is now open every day for locals and tourist to visit the place.

Besides the aesthetic beauty, view point the Mawroh Recreational Park will soon have a separate children park.

During the inauguration, Metbah thanked the Mawroh durbar village for creating the park which is a contribution to the society and “a pleasant surprise, a pleasant sight and place of blessing.”

Tourism minister also stated that the park is a vision given by God, for the goodwill of society and that in no time the park will be a well known landmark for Nongpoh town.

“A town needs a park and needs to create space for community activities. I hope this park is a good example,” said Metbah.

It may be mentioned that the Dorbar Shnong of Mawroh village could converted dense vegetation to recreation park and view point as a tourist attraction through the support of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
