GHADC polls: Congress releases first list of 17 candidates

Shillong, Feb 10: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday released the first list of 17 candidates who will contest the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).

The GHADC goes to polls on April 9 and the counting is on April 14.

In the 30-member House, 29 members are elected while one is nominated.

The 17 names were approved by the Meghalaya Pradesh Election Committee held on February 9.

Kenadick S Marak will contest from Siju constituency, Freedarson N Sangma from Wagesik, Willy D Shira from Silkigre, Dipur Sangma from Rangrikkimgre, Olendro R Marak from Gasuapara.

Sarbha R Marak from Barengapara constituency, Nehru D Sangma from Amongpara, Sadhia Rani M Sangma, the wife of Congress MLA Zenith M Sangma from Dengnakpara, Mrinal R Marak from Naguapara, Kunal Ch Momin from Tura constituency, Adamkid M Sangma from Asanang, Kansan Sangma from Nogorpara.

Rinaldo K Sangma from Rongrong constituency, Pardinand D Shira from Damas, Cherak Watre Momin from Kharkutta, Rapiush Ch Sangma from Darugre and Alphonsush R Marak from Williamnagar.

This time around, the Congress has given tickets to seven Youth Congress members these are Rinaldo K Sangma, Kunal Momin, Kansan Sangma, Sarbha Marak, Alphonsush Marak, Dipur Sangma and Adamkid Sangma.
