GHADC polls: UDP calls for applications from probable candidates

Shillong, Feb 12: A meeting of the United Democratic Party (UDP), which met on Friday at Williamnagar, East Garo Hills has decided to call for applications from candidates willing to contest the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) polls.

General Secretary of the Party, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh said that the last date for receiving the applications will be on February 23.

“And we have entrusted all the district presidents and secretaries of the five districts of Garo Hills to send their applications to the district presidents or the special committee members in-charge of the election or to the general secretary of the party,” Dr. Mawthoh said.

The meeting at Williamnagar was attended by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, Dr. Mawthoh other prominent leaders from Khasi Hills as well as Garo Hills region.

The election to the GHADC will be held on April 9 and the counting on April 14.
