Shillong, Dec 7: The State government today reiterated that the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) should stop its “illegal activities” before the government can invite them for peace talks.
“We keep telling them if you want to come across the table, please stop illegal activities,” Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said.
It may be mentioned that the Khasi militant outfit has claimed responsibility for planting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb on November 26 at Soo-kilo under Sutnga Elaka in East Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, in the recent past, the proscribed HNLC had expressed their willingness to come to the negotiating table.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that the State government has taken up with the central government the offer of the HNLC.
“Let the centre decide on this issue at the earliest possible,” he added.
