Govt to take call on GHADC polls next cabinet

Shillong, Sept 24: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today said the issue related to holding of the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be discussed in the next cabinet.

“We will be discussing the agenda in the next cabinet. Only when we take up this agenda and we discuss it then, we will take a final call on it,” said Chief Minister while replying to query asked on the sideline of the cabinet briefing.

It may be reminded the five-year term of the GHADC will expire in October this year.

Recently, DCA Minister, Hamletson Dohling informed that the department will propose to the state government to either extend the term of the present house in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) or declare administrator’s rule.

According to Dohling the DCA department have prepared a cabinet memo which will be placed before the Cabinet.
