Health Minister reviews state’s preparedness to combat COVID-19


SHILLONG, Apr 8: Meghalaya Health Minister, AL Hek on Wednesday visited Jowai and Khliehriat in West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills districts respectively.

In East jaintia Hills, Hek was accompanied by Social Welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla where both monitored the preparedness for tackling Coronavirus cases.

During the visit, the ministers inspected the isolation ward, sample collection booth installed at Khliehriat CHC and Corona Care Centre at Dienchynrum, Khliehriat.

In the evening, the Health Minister held a review meeting to meeting with the Health officials on the preparedness for tackling Coronavirus cases at Shillong Civil Hospital.

After the review meeting, Hek informed that the state government was ready to face any situation.

“No stone will be left unturned to combat the virus,” the Health Minister said.

The Director of Health Service (MI), Dr Aman Warr  informed that doctors in the Civil Hospital Shillong are ready face any situation.

Dr Warr also informed that the state has received enough N95 masks and PPEs. “As of now we are in a comfortable position,” he added.
