Shillong, Oct 5: Health and Family Welfare Minister and BJP MLA A. L. Hek today said that on Tuesday he will leave Shillong for New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home minister Amit Shah, HRD minister, Union Health minister and others.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said that one of the important issues is to urge the Centre to invite the banned Khasi rebel outfit, Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) for peace talks.
“As a legislator, i will be meeting the Union home minister within this week requesting his intervention into the matter,” Hek said.
Hek informed that the HNLC recently had personally contacted him about their willingness to come forward for peace talks.
“The decision for the talks will depend on the central government. It will be prerogative to the advice of the central government,” he said.
Moreover, Hek said that his party want peace in the state of Meghalaya.
The BJP MLA also said that he will discuss the issues of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof SK Srivastava who has been extended despite strong opposition from various quarters, to raise the fund support to fight the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak and others with the Prime Minister and Union Ministers during his stay in Delhi.
