Heroin worth Rs 3.6 Lac seized near Umshyrpi Bridge

SHILLONG, Sept 2: Sources in the police department informed that 46.10 grams of Heroin worth Rs. 3,60,000 were seized on Wednesday at around 5 pm, near Umshyrpi Bridge.

It was informed that information was received that a drug deal would take place somewhere around Umshyrpi Bridge.

An Anti Narcotics Task Force team was reportedly despatched, following which a Maruti 800 bearing the number plate ML05E7993 was intercepted.

Two occupants Lucky Jana (35) and his wife Klissida Nongkynrih (42), residents of Bishnupur were apprehended. 

The source informed that in the presence of independent witnesses and Jhalupara Investigation Officer BH search of the vehicle was conducted and a bag with 4 soap cases containing suspect narcotics was found. 

Preliminary test indicated the suspected contraband to be heroin. A  case  under the NDPS Act is being taken up, the source informed.
