Home Minister James Sangma involved in verbal spat with senior journalist

SHILLONG, Jan 6: A senior journalist of the state and Home Minister, James K Sangma had a verbal spat at the State Secretariat on Monday evening.

Journalists initially wanted to meet Sangma, but since he was busy, they decided to wait outside his office chamber.

As soon as the Home Minister exited his chamber, waiting journalists greeted him happy new year.

In fact the senior journalist had extended his hand to wish him new year and Sangma had equally reciprocated.

The waiting journalists even requested him to spare some moment for them, to which he refused and accused the senior journalist of blocking his way.

Soon after, the home minister nudged the senior journalist, saying “What the hell are you doing? Why are you blocking my way like that?”, even as he went down the stairs.

To which the journalist responded, “Who the hell do you think of yourself?”

On hearing this Sangma again walked up the stairs and confronted the senior journalist and asked what his problem was.

The Home Minister came to the journalist and kept repeating, “What is your problem?”

Sangma was however stopped by his assistant and security guards and later walked away.
