SHILLONG, Jun 7: The Executive Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday met to discuss the present situation in Shillong city arising out of a scuffle between residents of Sweeper’s Colony at Them ïew Mawlong and drivers of Shillong Public Transport Service (SPTS) buses.
Speaking to media persons after the Executive Committee meeting, Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Pynshngain N Syiem informed that it has decided to convene a meeting with Hima Mylliem to study the land ownership documents given by the traditional body to the residents settled in the colony.
Syiem also said that the KHADC with the help of legal experts will study the documents which will be provided by the Hima and to find a solution.
When asked, Syiem informed that the meeting between experts and officials from the Hima will be held soon.
“After we had sough clarification from the Hima Mylliem, it will then submit a detailed report on this issue of Sweeper’s Colony,” the KHADC chief said.
It may be mentioned that the Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Ricky Nelson Syiem on Wednesday revealed that the Hima Mylliem had given four land pattas for construction of a Gurudwara, Guru Nanak School, Shiv Mandir and Durga Mandir situated at the colony.
The Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem said that the land pattas were given in 2009. Following the opposition from several NGOs, they have decided to withdraw the pattas in 2010.
The land pattas were issued when Latho Manik Syiem was the Syiem of Mylliem.
