KSU demands ILP during Rijiju’s visit to NEHU

Shillong, Jan 4: The Khasi Students; Union (KSU), on Monday, raised banners and placards in support of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) during the visit of Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju during the inauguration of sports infrastructures at the SAI, centre, North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), Campus.

Police officials present at NEHU campus did not allow the KSU volunteers to enter the venue but allowed them to protest outside the university campus.

The protest was led by KSU, vice-president Biangbor Paliar. Speaking to Shillong Mail, Paliar said that the protest was organised to push for the demand of ILP and against the implementation of CAA in the Northeast.

Paliar also said that the protest was held to remind the centre that even the Meghalaya Assembly had passed a resolution in December 2019 to urge the Centre to implement ILP in Meghalaya.

“The cry for implementation of ILP once again resonates the streets of Shillong. Today KSU express their demand for ILP to the convoy of Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of State, Govt. of India,” the KSU tweeted.
