Shillong, Dec 23: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has donated 200 blankets to care taker of Shanti Bhavan, Missionaries of Charity located at Nongpoh, Ribhoi District, here at the premises of Meghalaya state Assembly.
The distribution of blankets was held during the advance Christmas celebration of officers and staffs of Assembly office.
The blankets were handover to the Sister of the Missionaries of Charity by the Speaker of Meghalaya, Metbah Lyngdoh in the presence of MLA, Mawsynram Constituency, Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang, Commissioner and Secretary, Assembly Secretariat, Andrew Simon, among others.
In his speech as the Chief Guest, Lyngdoh said it was a big question mark in the past few days whether the people of the state will be able to celebrate Christmas this year after all the chaos and disorder that broke out owing to the passage of the CAA.
“I must say God has guided all the 60 MLAs of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to take a decision on the agenda discussed on December 19,” he said.
Lauding the officers and staffs of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly for all the noble contribution he said, “I hope this Christmas brings us hope and Joy.”
