Shillong, Jan 12: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath today said that he will try his best that nobody leaves the party.
The AICC in-charge who is on his maiden visit after taking charge of Meghalaya said that it was his duty to ensure that no one leaves the Congress and he felt positive about it.
However, Chatrath said that leaving or staying in the party is the personal decision of each individual.
“I am quite positive people out here those whom I have met, they are not the ones who are leaving. Those who had to leave they have already left and those who are in the party are definitely going to stay in the party,” the AICC in-charge told reporters.
He also expressed optimism that the Congress will come back to power in the 2023 Assembly polls, even as he added that the aim of the party was not only to be the single but win with two-thirds majority.
“In 2023 a fair election will be held and I think Meghalaya is a state where we are definitely in a very good position, and we will be forming the government,” Chatrath said.
The AICC in-charge of the state also said that he has received feedback from most of the leaders of the Congress that the people are fed up with the present government because what all was promised has not been fulfilled by the government of the day.
Chatrath also said that the Congress presently was not looking to form a government with regional parties who are in the National People’s Party led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance, but the party is concentrating in organising for the elections in 2023.
