SHILLONG, Apr 12: The ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) govt on Thursday decided to pursue a resolution which was adopted by the House in the year 2015, to exempt the state from Central laws related to mining so that the ban on coal mining can be lifted.
“The Chief Minister will go to Delhi along with few members to again knock of the Centre, discussed the issue and also to meet the aspiration of the people by lifting the ban on coal mining,” Senior Cabinet Minister Prestone Tynsong said.
This decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held on Thursday.
Tynsong also said that at the same time, the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will also gave statement on the floor of the House during the current budget session on the issue.
He informed that few Minister should accompany the chuief minister to Delhi.
He said that after meeting the Centre, the chief minister will present a statement in the Assembly in this current budget session of the tenth Assembly.
The ongoing budget session will conclude on April 20.
